Understanding God’s Will – Central Campus – 2010-10

When I first got news of the new church building project, I was rather puzzled.
I’m a creature of comfort and I didn’t understand why we needed to enlarge our
church building. At the “3,6,9,12” event, I routinely completed the survey form
and responded like a student in class. I put forth my monthly pledge, but really
was not moved by the Spirit in any way, shape, or form.

One Sunday morning, Pastor Sue reminded us to pray for the church building
project, to lay our hearts before God and ask Him to examine our motives. That
same night, I admitted to God during prayer that I was not passionate about the
project, because I just didn’t see the need. Despite all the encouragement and
explanations that our church leaders have given us, I still did not understand and
could not share the vision. I prayed for God to grant me a vision concerning the
new building project. For the next few days, I prayed like a small child, I
wanted something of my own, a calling from Him in sharing this vision of
building a new church.

One summer night, I was spending time with my daughter and I asked her if the
youth are praying for the church building project. She said yes, that they prayed
a lot initially. I asked her to share her personal opinion on this matter. She said
it’s not a big deal, that when the new church is built, she would be in college
already. I thought that she was rather calloused, that she should be more concerned with God’s kingdom expansion, we all have a part in this, how can
we not care? At that moment, God opened my eyes and ears. I heard Him say
“At the end time, I will call my people and protect them. “ I saw a white
building on earth, proclaiming God and welcoming God’s soldiers. Those who
are tired and weary found shelter there, God’s people prepared themselves for
war in this place.

Praise God that He allowed me to have this vision, that I am able to make a
connection with the church building project. It is now my business, too! From
then on, I offered my little bit of pledge money with a cheerful and willing
heart. I know that the Lord is pleased!
