As part of the 30th anniversary all church celebration, we are planning an all church relay run from church to the beach on 4/22/17. The relay will consist of segments ranging from 1-6 miles over a total of about 35-40 miles. There will be a BBQ celebration at the beach afterwards, likely at South Mission Beach. Everyone who is interested may participate and may sign up in the link here or below. When we are running, we like to focus on the following verses as we run.
Acts 20:24b says — my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Hebrews 12:1-2, Isaiah 40:31

What is a mini Ragnar relay race?
A mini Ragnar relay race is a long distance race (usually greater than a marathon distance) that is a relay amongst a group or team of runners.
I thought it was an all church relay race, what does that mean?
Yes, it is! It simply means that anyone from church or any invited family and friends are welcome to participate. There will be multiple teams depending on who and how many sign up.
What makes up a team for a mini Ragnar relay?
A team is made up of 6 to 12 runners, 2 drivers (who can be runners also, but then there needs to be 2 drivers in the same car) and 2 cars or minivans that can hold all 6 to 12 people plus drivers.
How does the relay work?
The relay starts with the first runners starting at church. There are 12 legs along the way and at each checkpoint, a baton is handed off to the next runner in line. Each runner ends up running at least 2 legs of the entire relay race. The cars with the other runners inside ‘leapfrog’ the runners as they are running and can support the runners where it is safe with cheers, food, and water. Each car or minivan also ‘leapfrog’ each other 3 times at a ‘van handoff’ checkpoint. There are 3 ‘van handoff’ checkpoints.
Can I be a driver?
Yes, you can be, but you must have a California driver’s license, be over 18 years old and have a good driving reputation. There will be a driver orientation at least a week before the relay to review the course and orient drivers.
How long is each leg for the runners?
Each leg ranges from 1-6 miles, each runner runs a total of 3-10 miles for the day.
How long is the total distance?
From church to South Mission Beach, the route is approximately 37 miles.
That’s great! How can I sign up?
